Can a 7mm rem mag use large rifle primers instead of magnums?

You could use a large pistol primer if you wish, but if you use a magnum type powder in your loads, it may not ignite the powder properly. If your book calls for magnum powder and primer that is what you should use. If the powder doesn't light off properly, the cartridge will not function properly.
