I need some help I have acid reflux and feel that I am well informed on the subject but I need help It hurts!?

I went the the doctor he prescribed prevacid 30 days I took one pill then decided to wait on it because I was feeling better. I haven't started the regimen because before I had constipation so bad that i couldn't p gas I am better know but still have bouts of acid reflux to the point of gagging and choking, the more I Read the more I wonder.Ironically not enough acid is the real problem along with possible pancreatic problems or not enough bile released for digestion. Im taking gas pills mylanta and took pepcid twice. A long term acid reflux medication regimen is dangerous your acid is the first line of defense against virus and bacteria long term use puts you at risk for cancer pneumonia the list goes on. What should I do I know its linked to something else I have had a stomach ultrasound it came back ok but that test isn't reliable in terms of gastrointestinal disorders. Doctors keep telling me im ok they give me pills that will help but in the long term they are problematic what the hell should I do?
